The Electrolux Pure Q9 cordless vacuum has an advanced filtration system and a lightweight design. Electrolux Pure Q9 Vs Dyson V11: Differences

After carefully comparing the Electrolux Pure Q9 Vs Dyson V11, it is clear that the Dyson V11 is the better choice for your home. It offers superior suction power, better control, and more features than the Electrolux Pure Q9. Therefore, the Dyson V11 wins this comparison 3-0.

Cleaning performance

The winner: Dyson V11

Suction power and control

Regarding suction power, the Electrolux Pure Q9 offers a suction power of 140 watts. While this is sufficient for light cleaning tasks, it may struggle with more challenging or heavily soiled areas. It’s important to note that the Q9 can sometimes get clogged, impacting its overall performance. However, the suction power provided by the Q9 should be adequate for regular maintenance and cleaning.

On the other hand, the Dyson V11 boasts a more powerful vacuum motor, delivering 185 Air Watts of suction power in Boost mode. This makes the V11 significantly more powerful compared to the Electrolux Pure Q9. With this increased suction power, the Dyson V11 can tackle both light cleaning tasks and more demanding cleaning needs, including deep cleaning carpets and removing stubborn dirt and debris.

Dyson V11's three cleaning modes
Three cleaning modes

In terms of cleaning modes, the Electrolux Pure Q9 offers different settings to choose from. The low setting is suitable for cleaning floors without crevasses, while the middle setting is designed for short carpets. The turbo mode provides an extra power boost when dealing with muddy shoes or more challenging cleaning tasks. These options allow you to adjust the suction power based on the specific cleaning requirements of different surfaces in your home.

The Dyson V11 takes cleaning modes a step further, offering three power modes: Eco mode, Auto mode, and Boost mode. Eco mode is designed for longer cleaning sessions, optimizing battery life while still providing sufficient suction power for most cleaning tasks.

In auto mode, the suction power is automatically adjusted to match the type of surface it detects, ensuring efficient cleaning without the need for manual adjustments. Finally, Boost mode provides maximum suction power for tackling tough dirt or heavily soiled areas.

Compatible floor type

The Electrolux Pure Q9 is a powerhouse for picking up dog and human hair from various surfaces. I was amazed at the amount of dust it captured, even from seemingly clean carpets. After just a few minutes of vacuuming, the bin was filled with hair and dust, showcasing its excellent suction power.

While the electric brush slows down slightly when dealing with carpet fibers, it still manages to do a thorough job. The self-cleaning brush roll is a convenient feature that helps maintain its performance over time.

Meanwhile, the Dyson V11 impressed me with its Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) system. This intelligent technology automatically adjusts the motor speed based on the floor type, ensuring powerful cleaning on carpets and hard floors. Even without the soft roller head, the V11 had no problem cleaning hardwoods.

However, I did notice that the Torque Drive cleaning head tended to fling lighter debris before sucking it up, especially during the rice test. The V11’s performance on high-pile carpets was nearly identical to that on low-pile carpets, capturing 100% of debris types, except for cereal, which still achieved an impressive 99% capture rate.

Design and convenience

The winner: Dyson V11

Noise level

The Electrolux Pure Q9 impressed me with its noise level of 73 dB. I found it relatively quiet during the operation, allowing for a more peaceful cleaning experience. This is particularly beneficial when working in residential areas or during late-night cleaning sessions. The lower noise level contributes to a calm atmosphere.

On the other hand, the Dyson V11 had a noise level ranging from 75 to 78 decibels. The difference is insignificant, slightly louder than the Pure Q9. However, when noise reduction is a priority, the Pure Q9’s lower noise level gives it an edge.

Battery

The Electrolux Pure Q9 offers different power settings, each with a specific battery duration. The low-power mode provides a respectable 50 minutes of cleaning time, ideal for regular cleaning tasks. Switching to the middle-power mode reduces the battery life to 20 minutes, while the turbo mode offers 10 minutes of intense cleaning power.

Charging the vacuum from 0% to 100% takes approximately 4 hours, in line with the manufacturer’s claims. This allows me to plan my cleaning routine and ensures that the Pure Q9 is always ready to tackle any mess.

Conversely, the Dyson V11 showcases impressive battery technology. Equipped with larger lithium-ion cells and advanced battery-saving features, it offers a generous runtime of up to 60 minutes on a full charge. This extended battery life allows me to clean my entire house, including multiple floors, without frequent recharging.

However, it’s important to note that when the V11’s brush detects higher resistance on carpets, it adjusts its RPM accordingly, which may slightly reduce the battery life. Besides, the charging time may be longer than its rival, at about 4.5 hours.

Considering battery performance, the Dyson V11 outshines the Pure Q9 with its long runtime. This makes it a reliable choice for those seeking extended cleaning sessions or larger cleaning areas.

Maneuverability

The Electrolux Pure Q9 stands out for its lightweight design. With the main unit placed just above the floor brush joint, its center of mass rests mostly on the floor, making it super light in hand. This design feature allows for effortless maneuverability, making tasks like navigating between chair legs a breeze.

The Pure Q9 can even stand independently, but I wouldn’t rely on it too much, as it can be a bit wobbly. The only downside is that the main unit may struggle to fit deep under furniture like beds due to the low placement of the main unit.

The Dyson V11 offers excellent maneuverability as well. You can stand in one place and easily maneuver around chair legs without moving around to each side like a regular vacuum cleaner. It even reaches under kitchen cupboards where other vacuums might not fit.

Utility

The winner: Dyson V11

Display

The Electrolux Pure Q9, while efficient and powerful, lacks an LCD display. Instead, it features only two buttons. This means you have to rely on the noise or other indicators to determine the speed at which it works. While this may not be a deal-breaker for everyone, having a visual display would provide a more precise indication of the vacuum’s performance.

In contrast, the Dyson V11 offers a more advanced system with a small LCD display on the back of its handle. This display provides valuable information such as the exact number of minutes and seconds remaining, helpful tips for resolving blockages, and the mode you’re currently using. Compared to the simple battery-capacity LEDs in the previous V10 model, the V11’s LCD display is a significant upgrade.

Attachment

Dyson V11 attachments
Dyson V11 attachments

Starting with the Electrolux Pure Q9, five attachments offered include a dusting brush, crevice tool, motorized pet nozzle, telescopic reach tool, and delicate brush. These attachments give me the flexibility and convenience to clean different surfaces and items, such as delicate furniture, tight corners, and pet hair. The motorized pet nozzle is a standout feature as it effectively picks up pet hair and dander, making it a great option for pet owners.

On the contrary, the Dyson V11 comes with a soft roller motorized head, mini-motorized tool, combination tool, soft dusting brush, crevice tool, and the new on-wand storage clip. The Soft Roller Motorised Head is a feature that effortlessly cleans bigger messes and deeper dirt from carpets and hard floors. The Mini-motorised tool removes pet hair and dirt from upholstery, car seats, and other small spaces.

What sets Dyson V11 apart from Electrolux Pure Q9 is the new on-wand storage clip overlooked in Dyson’s marketing materials. The transparent plastic organizer cleverly sits on the V11’s wand and allows for two tools to travel with you whilst you clean. The added convenience of this new accessory cannot be overstated, as it eliminates the need to put down the vacuum and search for the tool, making cleaning more seamless.
