Dreame V11 vs Dyson V11: Both are highly popular cordless stick vacuum cleaners on the market, offering smart features and powerful suction performance, ensuring a great user experience. While it’s true that the Dreame V11 seems to have taken inspiration from Dyson in its design, ultimately, the Dyson V11 remains the superior choice for me.

The Dyson V11 emerges as the clear winner when compared to the Dreame V11. It is an ideal choice for those who prioritize powerful suction, especially in homes with carpets or pets. Additionally, the Dyson V11 offers better customer service and overall reliability, making it the preferred option for those willing to invest in a premium vacuum cleaner.

The Dreame V11 shines with its lower price, a hallmark of Xiaomi’s reputation for offering quality at affordable prices. The Dreame V11 delivers a strong price-performance ratio with its lightweight design and impressive battery life, making it a compelling recommendation. If you have tiled or hard floors, the Dreame V11 is an excellent choice worth considering.

Dreame V11 vs Dyson V11: Differences

When comparing the Dreame V11 vs Dyson V11, the Dyson V11 takes the lead with a score of 2-1 and 2 draws. It surpasses the Dreame V11 in terms of cleaning performance, particularly on carpets, and offers the advantage of a larger dustbin capacity.

Cleaning Performance

The Winner: Dyson V11

Suction Power

According to the manufacturer, the Dreame V11 offers a commendable suction power of up to 150 air watts in Turbo mode, which puts it on par with the Dyson V10, at least on paper. Our test results also demonstrated that the Dreame’s suction power is capable of delivering satisfactory cleaning results.

However, it’s worth noting that the Dyson V11 boasts a higher capacity of 185AW. Consequently, the Dyson V11 exhibits superior cleaning ability on surfaces like carpets, blankets, and other similar surfaces. When it comes to hard floors, both vacuums have comparable cleaning performance.

Suction modes

The Dreame V11 offers three suction modes: Eco, Mid, and Turbo. These modes provide varying levels of suction power to address different types of dirt. Personally, I find the Mid mode to be the most optimal as it strikes a balance between energy efficiency and sufficient suction power for all cleaning needs.

Dyson V11's three cleaning modes
Dyson V11’s three cleaning modes

Similarly, the Dyson V11 also offers three suction modes: Eco, Auto, and Boost.

  • The Eco mode on the Dyson V11 is comparable to the Eco mode on the Dreame V11, providing efficient cleaning with lower suction power to preserve battery life and reduce noise levels. It is suitable for lighter cleaning tasks and delicate surfaces.
  • On the other hand, the Turbo and Boost modes on the Dyson V11 are akin to the Turbo mode on the Dreame V11. These modes deliver maximum suction power, making them ideal for tackling stubborn dirt, ground-in debris, and heavily soiled areas. They substantially increase suction power, enabling thorough cleaning in demanding situations.

One notable difference is that the Dyson V11 features an intelligent setting called Auto mode. This mode automatically detects the type of surface being cleaned and adjusts the suction power accordingly. It optimizes suction for optimal performance and runtime, enhancing convenience and efficiency during cleaning sessions.

Cleaner Head & Compatible Floor Type

  • Dreame V11
Dreame V11's soft roller does a great job of cleaning hard floors
Dreame V11’s soft roller does a great job of cleaning hard floors

The Dreame V11 comes with a soft roller brush. This remarkable attachment proves ideal for hard floors, gracefully gliding without leaving a trace of scratches. Its magic lies in delicately capturing even the tiniest particles of dust.

Nevertheless, the soft roller brush has its limitations when it comes to effectively eliminating deeply embedded dirt nestled within carpets. While it can manage to collect some dirt from the carpet’s surface, its success largely stems from its robust suction power. Unless having to vacuum up really terrible messes, the outcome of its efforts remains on par, albeit not reaching the heights of immaculate cleanliness.

  • Dyson V11

The Dyson V11 offers a Digital Motorbar cleaner head with Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology. While this cleaner head isn’t exclusively designed for hard floor cleaning, it still delivers impressive results when employed on such surfaces. It effortlessly captures even the tiniest specks of debris and handles most larger debris with ease. Just remember to adjust the two adjustable gates to match the size of the dirt you’re dealing with, ensuring optimal cleaning performance.

Many users missed the importance of those adjustable gates and ended up unfairly criticizing the Dyson V11 for its performance on hard floors. It just didn’t seem right. However, I strongly believe that attaching a soft roller would make everything more efficient and easier. Unfortunately, the only version of the V11 that includes this roller is the Absolute, which, unfortunately, again, isn’t available in the US. But here’s the good news: you can actually buy the soft roller separately. So there’s still hope to upgrade and experience the benefits firsthand.

The strongest reason why I choose the Dyson V11 over a Chinese alternative is the remarkable Digital Motorbar cleaner head that comes with it. Its strong suction power really shines when vacuuming carpets, making me wish I could exert the same force on the Dreame model. The Digital Motorbar cleaner head is an absolute beast when it comes to vacuuming carpets, effortlessly extracting nearly every particle in its path.

When it comes to thoroughly cleaning thick carpets, there’s simply no better option than the Dyson V11. If you’re dealing with carpets, it’s a clear choice: Dyson is the way to go.

Design & Convenience

The Winner: Tie

On/Off Control

Let’s talk about turning on the vacuum cleaner. The Dreame V11 features a main power button that bears a resemblance to the trigger on the Dyson V11, but their functionality differs.

The continuous operation mode on Dreame V11
The continuous operation mode on Dreame V11

With the Dreame V11, it’s a breeze to get started. Simply press the power button, and the vacuum cleaner springs to life. There is now a continuous operation mode that may be turned on and off with the click of a button lock on the screen, eliminating the need to hold the button down continuously.

This means you no longer need to hold down the trigger while vacuuming continuously. It may seem like a small detail, but trust me, being relieved of the constant pressure on the trigger reduces fatigue and discomfort. This is especially beneficial for individuals with conditions like arthritis.

Unlike the Dreame V11, the Dyson V11 does not offer a trigger lock feature, which means you need to keep holding the trigger down for the duration of your cleaning session.

Battery

The Dreame vacuum cleaner offers three suction levels: Eco, Mid, and Turbo mode. The battery life varies depending on the selected power level. At the lowest level, you can enjoy up to 90 minutes of vacuuming, while in Mid mode, it lasts approximately 30 minutes, and at maximum suction power, it provides 10 minutes of operation. Its 3000 mAh battery requires around 4 hours for a complete recharge.

Similarly, the Dyson vacuum cleaner also provides three cleaning levels: Eco, Auto, and Boost. The battery life is approximately 75 minutes at the lowest level, 45 minutes at the medium level, and only 7 minutes at the highest level of suction power. The 3600 mAh battery takes about 4.5 hours to charge fully.

When considering the running time, it’s challenging to determine a clear winner as both models have their advantages. In my assessment, the Dyson excels in Auto mode for moderate levels of dirt. On the other hand, the Dreame outshines in situations with heavy or light soiling due to its long battery life.

Replace Battery

The Dreame vacuum cleaner features a non-removable battery, which presents some potential drawbacks. In the event of a significant decline in performance or battery failure, one can only hope that it occurs within the warranty period. In such cases, the device would need to be sent in for battery replacement, although specific information about the manufacturer’s battery replacement policy is unclear. For individuals who prioritize sustainability, this aspect may be discouraging.

Moreover, as the battery can not be removed,  my cleaning job may be interrupted by running out of power, and I have to wait until the vacuum cleaner is fully charged.

The situation would be significantly improved if it had a replaceable battery so I could easily swap in a spare battery when needed. Dyson V11 fulfilled my wish by offering an easily removable battery, making the cleaning process significantly smoother and more efficient.

Dustbin

The Winner: Dyson V11

Dustbin Capacity

Dyson V11's dustbin

The Dyson V11 has a larger dustbin capacity (around 0.76 liters), offering the advantage of more extended cleaning sessions without the need for frequent emptying.

The Dreame V11, while having a slightly smaller dustbin capacity (about 0.5 liters), still provides ample space for collecting dirt and debris. However, it may require more regular emptying during intensive cleaning tasks.

Emptying The Dustbin

Empty the dustbin of the Dreame V11 is very easy. You just simply hold the vacuum cleaner over a trash bin and press the small button located at the bottom of the container. This will pop open the lid, allowing the dirt to fall out. While the lid functions well and closes securely, I still advise holding it with your hand to prevent dust from spreading around the bin.

Alternatively, to avoid fine dust from re-entering your home, it’s recommended to empty the bin outside. Occasionally, you may need to use your finger to help remove any stubborn debris that doesn’t fall out easily.

For individuals with allergies, I would recommend considering the Dyson V11. Its dustbin emptying process is designed to be hygienic and convenient, which can be particularly beneficial for those with sensitivities. If you prefer a more visual guide, you can watch a video about how to empty Dyson V11’s dustbin.

Utilities

The Winner: Tie

Dynamic Load Sensor Technology

Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology is an advanced sensor system that intelligently detects and adjusts suction power according to the floor you are cleaning in real-time.

The Dreame has no issue passing from hard floor to carpet even if its head does not have Dynamic load sensor technology.

On the contrary, the Dyson V11 let me down. When I read Dyson’s promises about DLS technology, I expected a lot from the Dyson V11. In fact, its movement was not always smooth when I switched from hard floor to carpet.

However, it’s important to note that while the movement may not always be seamless, this feature has done well the task of adjusting the suction force suitable to the surface. I think that is the most important.

Display

Both the Dyson V11 and Dreame V11 vacuum cleaners come equipped with screens that serve to provide information and assist in controlling various modes and settings. However, there is a distinction between the two in terms of screen type. The Dyson V11 features an LCD screen, while the Dreame V11 is equipped with an OLED screen.

Dreame V11's OLED display
Dreame V11’s OLED display

Dreame V11’s screen itself shows not only the battery percentage and the mode in which the vacuum cleaner works, but it should also warn you that it is time to clean the vacuum cleaner. It’s also a nice extra that you can choose between different languages by pushing the button on the display.

The Dyson V11 also includes a prominent and informative display positioned on the back of the vacuum cleaner’s handle. This display provides real-time information on crucial details such as battery life, selected cleaning mode, and performance indicators.

Price

The Winner: Dreame V11

In terms of price, it’s hard to beat the Dreame V11. Its performance rivals that of the Dyson V11, offering a similar feel and quality, but at a significantly lower price point.

However, as someone who prioritizes sustainability, I find it a bit challenging to fully commit to the Dreame V11 due to concerns about its long-term durability. While it may work well initially, there’s a lingering apprehension that it might encounter issues or break down unexpectedly.

In contrast, Dyson is known for its exceptional customer service and commitment to sustainability. As a reputable brand, Dyson instills confidence in its products, and I trust that it will deliver on both performance and longevity without disappointing its customers.

When considering price alone, the Dreame V11 emerges as the winner thanks to its more budget-friendly price point.
