Between the Hoover Linx vs Evolve Pet, I would give a better score to the Evolve Pet. Moreover, the Hoover Linx is discontinued, and the brand claims that the Hoover Evolve Pet is the new version of the Linx model.

The Hoover Evolve Pet has a stronger suction and better seal to carpets and floors, contributing to greater cleaning performance on both surfaces. Moreover, it has a larger dust cup than the Hoover Linx, meaning that it can hold more dust and require less emptying in one cleaning session.

The Hoover Linx, on the other hand, offers better maneuverability and control than its rival. The control button is placed on the wand and can be easily reached using my thumb. Its swiveling feature is also steadier and easier to maneuver in a straight direction.

Hoover Linx Vs Evolve Pet: Differences

The Hoover Evolve Pet wins 2-1 against the Hoover Linx in this comparison. I found out that the Evolve Pet has a greater cleaning performance and larger dust cup capacity, while the Linx offers better maneuverability.

Cleaning performance

Winner: Hoover Evolve Pet

Suction

The Hoover Evolve Pet has stronger suction with a max airflow of around 44 cfm, while that of the Hoover Linx is about 31 cfm. With that number, the Evolve Pet is a competitive product in this price range of cordless vacuum which can perform decently whole-house deep cleaning.

Floor-type compatibility

Both Hoover Linx and Evolve Pet vacuums are appropriate for light-duty daily cleaning and are best for open areas.

  • Carpets

On the carpets, the Hoover Evolve is relatively better as it offers a better seal than the Hoover Linx. The Hoover Lix can vacuum thin area rugs pretty well, but with plush-pile carpets, it cannot suck up all the embedded dirt, just for cleaning the dirt on the carpet’s surfaces dirt cleaning.

Meanwhile, the Evolve Pet seals to the plush carpets and decently collect all dirt, like sand, cat litter, pet hair, etc., off carpets. I can also use the Evolve Pet for shag rugs, and it leaves nicely groomed passes on the surfaces. However, owing to the nice seal to the rugs and carpets, it needs more strength to push the Evolve Pet, especially when using the high suction setting.

  • Bare floors

They all have the option to turn off the brush roll, which is a good feature for users whose house has sensitive bare floors. However, with the brush roll turned on, the pick-up efficiency is better; thus, if you don’t mind damaging your floors, keeping the brush roll on would improve the cleaning performance.

For small to medium debris like sand and cereals, the Hoover Evolve Pet and Linx can be collected pretty well. With the brushroll off and the max suction settings, they can nearly suck up this debris in one pass.

However, with larger debris like cheerios and popcorn, the Hoover Linx performs a little better than the Evolve Pet. Though the Hoover Linx has a small struggle in vacuuming the cheerios, it manages to pick up all thanks to the vane in the bottom of its cleaner heads. Meanwhile, in the case of the Evolve Pet, as the distance between its cleaner head and the floor is small, the cheerios are pushed around rather than being sucked up.

Besides, it is better for a vacuum to have LED headlights to improve the bare-floor cleaning satisfactory. With bright headlights, the vacuum can spot the hidden dirt on the floor easily so that I can know where I missed. Unfortunately, both the Hoover Linx and Evolve Pet do not feature any lights. So, if you want a Hoover with LED headlights, you can consider upgrading to the Evolve Pet Elite.

  • Edges and floor crevices

In terms of crevice cleaning, the Hoover Evolve does a relatively better job than the Hoover Lix. Specifically, it can collect a great amount of sand in the floor crevices in one slow-forward pass with the multisurface setting. Meanwhile, the Linx is ineffective in collecting debris in the crevices though I ran it over the same area several times.

For edge cleaning, both of the vacuums perform decently. There was a small amount of sand spotted on the edges between the floor and the wall. However,  they do not come with any attachments or detachable wands like other stick vacuums, so it is inconvenient to clean the whole house.

Therefore, if you want a low-price cordless vacuum with a decent performance for daily cleaning, the Hoover Linx and Evolve Pet could be suitable picks. However, if you want a more versatile cordless stick vacuum under $300, I would recommend the Tineco A11 Hero. It is because the Tineco A11 Hero performs decent pick-up efficiency on both carpeted and bare floors and comes with standard accessories for cleaning crevices and above-floor surfaces.

  • Pet hair

Both of them have no struggle with picking up pet hair on either carpets or bare floors. However, their brush rollers are prone to hair tangling as they do not feature any anti-hair wrap function. Therefore, to ensure optimal performance, it requires frequent maintenance to keep the brush roller clean.

Yet, I found that it is more convenient to clean the brush roll of the Evolve Pet, since its brush roller is easily removable without unscrewing the cleaner head bottom. In this way, I can detach and detangle the hair from the brush roller effortlessly.

Nevertheless, if you frequently deal with high volumes of hair from your pets, I believe that looking for a cordless vacuum with a self-cleaning brushroll function is essential. This type of brush roll can help address hair-clogging issues, making your cleaning easier and faster. With the price under $300, I think the Tineco A11 Pet is a good option to pick, as its cleaner head is designed with anti-hair wrap functionality.

Dust bin & Filtration

Winner: Hoover Evolve Pet

The Hoover Evolve Pet has a larger dust cup than the Hoover Linx, so it is the winner of this round. Specifically, the dust cup of the Evolve Pet can hold up to 1 liter of dry dust, while the dust-bin capacity of the Linx is about 0.5 liters.

For the filtration, honestly, I do not appreciate the filtering systems of these two vacuums because they do not have HEPA filters and complete seal filtration. As a result, they are not effective in filtering micro dust and odors. So, if you are sensitive to dust and odor, you should look for other vacuums with HEPA filtration.

Design & Convenience

Winner: Hoover Linx

Maneuverability & controls

On paper, the Hoover Linx is lighter than the Evolve Pet. However, the weight at their handle is nearly the same, which is about 1.68 lbs for the Evolve Pet and 1.64 lbs for the Linx. Such numbers indicate that they are light and easy to handle. Moreover, these two vacuums can stand on their own in the upright position, offering a simpler way to store them without drilling holes in the wall.

Besides, I found that the Hoover Evolve Pet can get around and under furniture more easily than the Hoover Linx. It is because the Evolve Pet can lay flat on the floor without getting the cleaner head lifted.

However, I do not really like the position of the control buttons and the swivel joint of the Evolve Pet. Unlike the Linx, the swivel feature of the Evolve Pet is too loose and wobbly, making it hard to maneuver in a straight direction.

Additionally, the control button of the Hoover Linx is on the handle, which is easily accessed with my thumb. Meanwhile, those buttons of the Evolve Pet are placed on the body, so when I want to change the cleaning modes suitable to the surface I am working on, I have to bend down to reach the Mode button. Though this is not a big drawback, I still feel it is somewhat inconvenient. Thus, I wish they would keep the button position of the Linx and applied to their next products.

Battery

One of the things I like about the Hoover Linx and Evolve Pet is the removable battery. Their batteries are easy to detach and replace, so I can buy extra batteries to use consecutively for longer runtime.

About the runtime, the brand claimed that these two vacuums could work for a maximum of 30-35 mins. However, the actual tests showed that their max runtime is about 20-25 mins, depending on the cleaning modes and surfaces. The min runtime is recorded at around 11 mins. Therefore, they are more suitable for light-duty cleaning on a daily basis.
